The Key to Huffington Post’s Power
Scanning HuffPo’s front page, I caught a post and a reply that synthesized the power of the site. The blogger is British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, who published an entry titled Ban Ki Moon in Burma: The Chance for a New Beginning.
The first comment in response is from Hammerofthor:
Gordon Brown & Ban Ki Moon: Two dynamic, innovative, powerful, inspiriational [sic] world leaders. The people of Burma are saved. All’s right with the world. What a relief.
That exchange captures the uniqueness of the site: a world leader blogging about another world leader and subjected to the scrutiny and skepticism (and snark) of an anonymous commenter. It doesn’t get much better.
Rightwingers call it a lefty haven, but you’d be hard-pressed to find another site that brings so many disparate voices - and SO much information - together so seamlessly.
