Oh Look: Puppy Pops!

Blogger Patterico followed a couple Twitter feeds yesterday; one from Change for Iran, an Iranian student protester, and another from CBS White House correspondent Mark Knoller.  What he found, and what he helpfully laid out for his readers, will help answer the question, “Why is the mainstream media dying?”

I don’t follow Knoller, so I don’t know if he also Tweets about important, or evenly remotely interesting, things. But his in-depth coverage of the First Family’s ice cream adventure is an absolute waste of time and a joke.

Seriously, this uncritical, wholly absurd Obama worship from the press is an embarrassment. Unemployment is hovering around ten percent, North Korea is aiming missiles at Hawaii and Iran’s theocracy is being tested by brave, yet powerless, democrats.  Oh look, Obama just bought his dog a puppy pop!

This cannot be why Mr. Knoller entered journalism, can it? As a current IBD editorial observes in a commentary about another network and another issue, “Once upon a time, people would go into journalism to expose the seamy underbelly of American politics. Today, ABC News, in its abject submission to the Obama administration on health care, has decided to become the seamy underbelly.”

In Knoller and CBS’s case it’s not even seamy, just ridiculous.
