Morning Joe: Palin a “Circus Act,” “Joke”

Take a look at this Wednesday Morning Joe exchange between Willy Geist, Joe Scarborough and Mike Allen of the Politico. You’ve got the full range of Sarah Palin two minutes hate in this one. Mike Allen calls her a “circus act.” Joe calls her a “joke” and compares her to Dan Quayle. Allen proceeds to advise her to go back to Alaska. Willie says she needs to study the issues and then informs viewers that they haven’t written her off yet.

And what did the lovely Governor of Alaska do to deserve this morning thrashing?  Um … she had the gall to be the subject of a Vanity Fair hit piece by Todd Purdum.

That’ll learn her.

Look, I worked on the McCain campaign. Palin had her shortcomings, but she also brought some incredible strengths to the campaign. And perhaps the McCain staffers who continue to trash the governor are deflecting attention away from how remarkably screwed up and dysfunctional the operation was even before the Palin pick. What I don’t understand is this: Why would anyone hire a bunch of campaign staffers after watching how viciously they are attacking their former employer?

Well, I know we will never want to hear the words “former McCain staffer” associated with anybody running a future campaign in the future.

Oh, and nice to see Maverick standing up for her as usual.

Well, if it’s any consolation to Sarah, and I think she’s a joke only in these jokers’ minds, Joe Biden’s picture appears next to the word joke in the dictionary.  And his boss is quickly becoming not a funny, but a scary one.

And I’m sure that will really help your book sales, Scarborough.
I might have considered picking it up, but no more.

And how interesting it is that these anonymous cowards never see fit to criticize McCain for anything, as if the whole screwed up campaign was somehow Sarah’s fault.

No, it had nothing to do with the fact that McCain couldn’t put forth a coherent argument, had authored stupid past legislation, and didn’t have the courage or the intelligence to properly identify the leftism of his opponent.

If we’re going to be calling people jokes, perhaps John should get a mention.

Sooner or later, if Palin wants to be taken seriously she’s going to have to appear on “Meet the Press”.

Biden’s done MTP at least three times.

Palin on MTP is going to be comedy gold and fuel “Saturday Night Live” for weeks.

Posted by David  on  07/01  at  12:59 PM

^yeah, especially when she reduces David Gregory to the same quivering puddle of goo that she reduced Matt Lauer a few weeks ago.

Posted by Edward Von Bear  on  07/01  at  01:08 PM

Oh no, the biggest joker on CNN is calling Palin a joke. I can’t believe my ears. He has the lowest rating on national news and called anyone that was against “The One” TeaBaggers. What a joke you are Joe Scarborough. Seems like all your group is to busy trashing everyone else, hmmmmmmm, sounds like the Clintons ! Grow up Joe, go get a real job.

Sarah Palin sees politics as a never-ending gravytrain for her, her chronically unemployed husband, her close friends and her porch full of hillbilly children.

Her handlers will NEVER let her appear on “Meet the Press”, which proves she’s not a serious political contender for the job of dog catch.

i’ve always been a fan of Sarah Palin
I am amazed how one bad intereview, couric intervieww, almost ruin her political career and made her into a carriacture. why is that? when her critics most of the socall fair press critize her intelligence they always bring up the couric interview, not interviews where she perform well
supposelly Steve Schmidt is the leaker why is he doing this?

“Sarah Palin sees politics as a never-ending gravy train for her, her chronically unemployed husband, her close friends and her porch full of hillbilly children” - spoke like a true liberal afraid of something.  Lets dissect your sentence:

Never ending gravy taint - kind of like being in the UAW while Obama is president - if it’s okay for those people why is it not okay for Palin and hers.

Hillbilly children - i could stoop to your level and make a comment about your children, however something tells me you don’t know them if you have any, or you took part in an abortive process of your lineage.  So let’s talk about non hillbilly children and compare:

Pregnant at 18 and unwed: is a Palin kid, or Obama’s mother! I guess she is a hillbilly, and Obama would have been a porch sitter as well.

Down syndrome: a Palin child, so I guess its now okay to make fun of someone and judge them based on how they are born - like the color of someone’s skin, or their sexual orientation.  Based on your logic, if you are a gay black man living circa 1954, or even 2009 you would have no reason to complain about being made fun of.

Al Gore’s son is a alcoholic
Joe Biden’s daughter is a coke head
Let’s not even talk about the Kennedy’s (they keep rehab centers in business)
Should I keep going? No, I think I made my point that every time you point a finger at Palin you forget that you have four more fingers pointing back at you (and because you walk on water you have no faults) then they are pointing at dems.  You hate Palin because she scares you.  You are afraid of what you don’t understand, and deep in your statist heart, you know that a person like Palin might just become President, especially if an empty suite like Obama can.

Hey David, you douchebag, Todd palin works as an engineer on the North Slope as well as being the owner-operator of a snow machine business in Wasilla. Politics has cost the Palins more money than a clueless asshole like you will ever earn in your whole life. If you want to find scumbag politicians who enter public service in order to enrich themselves, look to the Democrat party, particularly the schmuck who ran for president in ‘04, and the punk-ass thug and wife team currently polluting the white house, you shithead…

Posted by joe  on  07/01  at  01:57 PM

The appeal of an idiot, Sarah Palin, is that she allows others to suspend logic in favor of their preconceived notions. This is the same appeal of Rush Limbaugh, FOX news etc. Emotionally appealing to the belligerent faithful, yet devoid of substance and intellect. I say keep her alive…Palin is going to take down the republican vote to under 15% of the electorate!

Posted by David  on  07/01  at  02:11 PM

These McCain staffers are not very professional.  Seriously, who in the heck is ever going to hire them again. I wouldn’t, omg they could never be trusted. No wonder McCain didn’t do very well.

Posted by Denise  on  07/01  at  02:48 PM

Stupid rant, Joe.  Can’t do better than that silly name-calling?  Instead of “punk-ass thug” why don’t you just come out with the word we all know you would like to use, loser?

Sarah Palin has extremely loyal and devoted followers, but they are a pretty small group.  She will never win a national election, and she shouldn’t.

Posted by Pug  on  07/01  at  03:29 PM

BTW, Todd Palin is a “production operator” for BP.  That is a far cry from an engineer, Joe.  I’ve never met an engineer that didn’t have a college degree.

“Palin had her shortcomings”

WHY DO YOU TELL VICIOUS LIES ABOUT SARAH PALIN? SHE IS THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY, MOTHER THERESA, AND TED NUGENT ROLLED INTO ONE! YOU WILL NOT MOCK HER!

“The appeal of an idiot, Sarah Palin, is that she allows others to suspend logic in favor of their preconceived notions “.
Once again you point at us conservatives, and forget you have three fingers pointing back at you.  Hope and Change - does that ring a bell when reading your quote above. Replace Palin’s name with Obama, and you illustrate a self fulfilling prophecy: The appeal of an idiot, Sarah Palin David or Obama, is that she he allows others to suspend logic in favor of their preconceived notions
Its nice to quote someone else, at least do so correctly.  You still fail to defend your premise with logic?  The appeal of an idiot?  Is an idiot one who got beat in a presidential election by someone that the dems labeled the dumbest man on the planet- your sentence could read:
“The appeal of an idiot (like John Kerry who was beat like a drum by what I consider a fool George Bush)”.
You then state that “she allows others to suspend logic in favor of their preconceived notions”: what do you mean she allows people to suspend logic? Do you realize how ridiculous that sounds when actually thinking about it.  So let me get this correct, Palin is omniscient, which grants her the power of God to read the minds of everyone that supports her, and because she can, she graciously allows them to continue to support her because she has the power to will them not to support her?  Are you 12 years old David, or did you just happen to wake up this morning in the trunk of a car with a condom hanging out of your anus? It seems that the only person “suspending logic” is you, which probably alludes to the fact that you are really accusing us of how you think when it comes to Obama.
Your next sentence: “This is the same appeal of Rush Limbaugh, FOX news etc. Emotionally appealing to the belligerent faithful, yet devoid of substance and intellect”. Once again, at least quote your source.  What is the standard of substance and intellect?  Who are you to make that determination?  What is your real background David that grants you such moral authority over everyone to determine what is substantive and intellectual?  Once again, are you 12 or did you wake up this morning in the trunk of a car with a rubber hanging out of your ass.
Finally, “Palin is going to take down the republican vote to under 15% of the electorate”, I guess you and Palin are both omniscient.  Palin because she knows what everyone thinks, and you because you know the exact reason why millions of people do anything.  I guess one could just as easily say that Palin is the reason why Obama’s numbers are dropping.  I have no way to prove that other than by using your logic and reason.  I think its time for you to pull out your high school summer reading list and write “When Atlas Shrugs” to the list and ensure you read it, next write “US Constitution”, and read it, finally read “Liberty and Tyranny” by Mark Levin.  When you hit the 11th grade this fall, you will be way beyond the curve of political conservative understanding, which might make your comments about conservatives more reasonable because you will actually understand how many of us think.

The more that idiots deride Palin for no substantive reason, and the longer the diatribe, the more I’m convinced the Left is populated by deranged individuals.

They can lambaste her till 2012, it won’t diminish her in the eyes of people who aren’t Obama-addled.

Posted by RogerCfromSD  on  07/01  at  04:33 PM

I agree that Sarah was un-prepared to become V.President of the U.S.  But I personally do not believe that Barak Oboma was ready or prepared to become the President of the U.S.  Never liked McCain so I hope President Oboma succeds.  But it is interesting to me how you talk show hosts become so qualified to judge Sarah Palin in ways that not other candidate has had to endure.  Joe, I used to respect you a bit but to call anyone a joke, well this makes you about the same grade as David Letterman.  By the way, what state have you governed and what senate have you served in?
Be fair and be a gentleman please.

“They can lambaste her till 2012, it won’t diminish her in the eyes of people who aren’t Obama-addled.”

That’s exactly why I’ll lambaste her till 2012. I WANT her to be the GOP nominee, because she is unelectable. It’s gonna be loads of fun!

Posted by giantslor  on  07/01  at  05:07 PM

I think what’s really behind all this resentment is the fact that it quickly became a contest between Palin and Obama, rather than McCain-Obama.

Palin outdid everyone on executive experience, and as far as judgement goes, I’ll take that of a moose-huntin’ plain-spoken babe who was able to pretty much on her own make it to the Governor’s seat of a state, and understands the proper role of government, over what we’ve got going now in the White House—in a heartbeat.

Obama hasn’t done crap to merit being President let alone have the common sense, and it’s starting to show now, big time.

The only real problem with a McCain/Palin win last November would have been that the order was wrong.

Posted by Matthew  on  07/01  at  05:30 PM

The only thing Sarah Palin came unprepared for in 2012 is, to paraphrase R.S. McCain, that blacks beat women in the political game of “rock, paper, scissors”. I don’t think she had the time to analyze the DNC primaries to understand that the treatment given Hillary Clinton, Palin would receive exponentially.

I’m sure she was also used to an Alaska press which treats all politicians with equal contempt and skepticism. The national media, of course, only treats Republicans with contempt.

Now she knows better. She should come in 2012 with sharp elbows and well-prepared defense of freedom and individualism.

This collectivist clown should be easy to beat come then.

“That’s exactly why I’ll lambaste [sic] her till [sic] 2012. I WANT her to be the GOP nominee, because she is unelectable. It’s gonna be loads of fun!”

Actually, you reveal how much you fear her because you feel it is your duty to severely weaken her by 2012. You see, if you were truly a strategist (and I can tell you’re not) you would sit back and watch her become the cult hero nominee of the GOP and then kneecap her in 2012.

But you are scared to death that she will bring people away from the collectivist uni-mind and remind them of what American Exceptionalism and an Independent Spirit are.

And that is why you tear her down. You don’t want her anywhere near the GOP primary, let alone the top of the ticket.

Posted by w3bgrrl  on  07/01  at  05:50 PM

The fate of Sarah Palin is in the hands of Barack Obama. If he turns out to be a successful president, she has no future. If he turns out to be as bad as or worse than Jimmy Carter, she will win easily in 2012. So far Obama seems to be on the Carter trail. How is he doing on Iran, Honduras, the economy, the auto companies, and the deficit? Can you believe anything he says? If the Obama supporters were confident that he will be successful, why would they be so obsessed with Palin? If you cannot defend your what you have achieved, you have to attack.

Palin has charisma, something no other potential Republican candidate has. Charisma wins elections, which is why she will be the Republican candidate in 2012.

Wow, David can reguritate leftist talking points. I would be impressed but I’ve seen a squirrel water ski, and it has a brain the size of a macadamia nut.
