Campbell Brown Flatters Herself

Campbell Brown basked in her putatively non-partisan independence during a recent interview with Julie Menin.  Her remark, in which she shoves Fox News Channel to the right and MSNBC to the left, are in keeping with CNN’s general strategy of repositioning itself as the centrist, dispassionate cable news outlet.

But Brown is flattering herself.

Brown is the progeny of a corrupt Democratic politician in Louisiana.

What’s more, Brown names Tim Russert and Tom Brokaw as her mentors in the Menin interview, a fact she evidently believes validates her “independent journalist” bona fides.

Tim Russert, of course, was a Democratic political operative before he became a news reader. And Tom Brokaw currently works for the Obama administration.
