Don’t Bother Waiting for Bloggers to Get Credit for the Public Option

A year ago, in a very different October, as we hurtled toward a historic election, I wrote a post titled On November Fourth, the Netroots Should Be More Than an Afterthought...

White House attempted to bounce FNC from pool; Media backs up FNC

This is pretty dispicable.  The White House actually attempted to bounce Fox News from the White House pool to prohibit them from being able to interview the new “Pay Czar.”  In a Strange New Respect moment, the non-FNC media backed FNC up:

State Media

While Obama is attempting to use the bully pulpit to “marginalize” FNC he is also holding secret briefings with the MSNBC hosts who are, shall we way, most committed to the cause?

David Sirota: Van Jones’ Departure “A Serious Tragedy for the Progressive Movement”

Progressive activist Sirota expresses his dismay: “First and foremost, Jones was one of the only movement progressives in a policymaking position in the Obama White House. By that I mean, he was one of the only people in the White House who came out of grassroots movement work and not just political/partisan hack work, and one of the only movement progressives put in a policymaking job, and not ghettoized into a political/tactical job. Whenever I got sick to my stomach at the thought of Obama’s Team of Corporate Zombies - people like Rahm Emanuel, Tim Geithner, Larry Summers and Jim Messina - running the show, I was able to at least tell myself that hey, someone like Van Jones is at least in there somewhere fighting the good fight as he always has. No more - and that’s a damn shame…”

Truthers Join Gun-Toting Idiots at Health Care Protests

A screen cap from Monday night’s AC 360 reveals pro-single payer protests include ... 911 Truthers. They join gun-toting idiots in their new found passion for health reform, I guess.

The Health Reform Fiasco Is an ‘Old’ Media Triumph—and a Red Flag for Democrats

Last February, I wrote a post about President Obama versus the conventional wisdom machine, arguing that “the assumption the new presidency would transform the political process, usher in an era of unprecedented citizen empowerment and decimate the old conventional wisdom-making machinery, has been undermined by the reality of entrenched power structures, deep-seated rivalries, die-hard habits and Beltway business as usual.”

“Send Them Home With a Bullet in the Head”

Check out this video from outside President Obama’s NH visit. And listen for these words: “Send [illegal immigrants] home with a bullet in the head the second time” .... “Read what Jefferson said about the Tree of Liberty - it’s coming baby.” [Jefferson said “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.”]

Five Reasons the Health Care Battle Is NOT the Presidential Campaign

As Democrats fight for a signature issue, a serious strategic blunder has left them scrambling to catch up with their opponents. The White House should have laid out clear, unwavering objectives, a solid plan, rather than leave the health debate to meander through Congress. That vacuum has enabled the proponents of the status quo to marshal their forces. Perhaps resorting to campaign tactics will turn the tide, I certainly hope so, but it bears acknowledging that the landscape has changed.
